The house and gardens of Ca’ della Santina extend over 8 acres, embedded in the attractive hillcountry of Umbria. The house stands at an elevation of 1,500 feet with views over the surrounding hills reaching heights of 3,000 feet.
On arrival guests can leave their car in a covered parking area and then make themselves at home in Ca’ della Santina. On the lower floor a large room of 700 sq. ft. comprises two areas. A large arch, with its original terracotta bricks, leads from one area to the other, creating an attractive division between the two spaces.
The first area comprises the living room with a large corner fireplace. The hearth is ajoined along two walls by wall benches topped with terracotta stone. Comfortable rustic furniture provides a welcome refuge from the sun into the coolness of the house. From here you have a beautiful view down into the valley.
The second area is the kitchen/dining room. Oak furniture contrasts with the yellow and blue Florentine tiles of the kitchen unit (gas rings with electric oven, fridge/freezer, etc).
Outside both areas are terraces. The terrace in front of the kitchen/dining room serves as an open air dining room, while the terrace on the opposite side is ideal for an evening chat or drink watching the sunset over the surrounding hills and valley.
A stone grill is located in the garden as an open invitation to the family to gather round for a barbecue.
Directly above the main room on the lower floor is a charming living room and master bedroom, of the same generous proportions and very atmospheric with open oak beams. On this level there are two other bedrooms, one of which is reached via the first bedroom.
Two luxury bathrooms complete this floor, equipped with shower, full length bath, toilet and bidet. One is tiled with green meadow flowers on white, the other in sahara beige with gold coloured fittings.
The interior of Ca’ della Santina is finished to satisfy highest expectations. The atmosphere is of a comfortable country villa. Oil fired central heating is available so that the house can be used in all seasons.
Below the terraced gardens there is the spectacular pool (8 yds x 14 yds). The view from here stretches over a beautiful panorama of wooded green hills. Both sunrise and sunsets become a special experience viewed from the perpective of the untouched Umbrien landscape.
Behind the carefully restored stone facade of this large villa with its 250 year history, set on sloping ground there are two houses, not visible from the outside. The lower house which is described here is the main rental property. The whole property is in principal only let to one pary. However, the upper house (Tower House) can also be rented, e.g. if two families are planning a holiday together or if a larger group of friends wish to rent Ca' della Santina.
Each house comprises approx. 200 sq.m (2000 sq. ft.), three double bedrooms, kitchen, living rooms, two bathrooms.
